An Army Bomb Disposal Team has carried out a controlled explosion on a viable device in Dublin.

The team was sent to Turvey Avenue in Inchicore at 3.10pm, the area was cordoned off by the gardaí and local residents were evacuated.

The remains of the device have been removed for further examination and will be handed over to the gardaí to assist with their investigations.

The scene was declared safe at 4.05pm.
