The Irish Seal Sanctuary has expressed concern after a number of seals were found dead in Co Wexford and Co Waterford over the past few days.

Six carcasses were found near Fethard-on-Sea, one in Tramore and one near Dunmore East.

This afternoon a further four decapitated seals were found in Tramore.

All seals are protected under national and European law and the Irish Seal Sanctuary is trying to establish how these eight seals died.

The sanctuary is urging the National Parks and Wildlife Service to conduct an investigation into the seal deaths.

A spokesman for the ISS also appealed to the public to report any observed seal deaths to the sanctuary and to report any dead or injured seals found washed ashore.
