The older person's charity ALONE has presented the keys to a home to a new resident in Dublin.
James, 73, who has been linked with homeless services for the past two years, moved in to his new home today.
The charity will provide five older people with their own homes over the Christmas period.
It currently provides housing for 100 older people who were at risk of homelessness.
ALONE Chief executive Sean Moynihan said it is seeing an increase people looking for its services.
He said calls to the charity were up 50% last year and are already up about 25% this year so far.
The charity got about 8,000 calls last year.
