A Danish organisation leading a global movement to create one million jobs for people with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has launched in Ireland.

Specialisterne (The Specialists) has announced it intends to create 50 jobs over the next five years here.

It said the new roles will help ASD individuals bring their distinct skills and abilities into real-life work settings, particularly in the IT sector.

Specialisterne Ireland says high-functioning people with ASD are particularly suited to areas such as software testing and data conversion.

It will assess and support individuals with ASD and aims to become an access point for companies to interface with them.
