A woman from Co Cork has become the first woman in Ireland to give birth to a baby for the second time as a result of robotic surgery.

The procedure is used to help women who have had miscarriages carry their baby to full term.

The initial surgery was carried out two years ago for Anne O'Mahony, who was one of the first women in Europe to give birth to a baby following the procedure.

Ms O’Mahony gave birth to her second child, Zoey, yesterday.

Her first daughter, Lucy, was born in July 2011.

She underwent the treatment using the advanced da Vinci Surgical System at Cork University Hospital.
