Consultant urologist Thomas McDermott faced nine allegations

Consultant urologist Thomas McDermott has been found guilty on nine counts of poor professional performance after a two-day Medical Council inquiry.

The case involved the death of a woman after treatment for a urinary problem in December 2008 at Mount Carmel Private Hospital in Dublin.

Mary Walsh of Carrigwood, Firhouse in Dublin, died on 8 December 2008 of septic shock, after being transferred to Tallaght Hospital.

The fitness to practise committee will make recommendations on sanction to a meeting of the full Medical Council at a later date.
