Cigarettes seized in Dublin were wrapped in spice to avoid detectionTuesday 04 December 2012 23.08
Customs officers have seized around one million cigarettes at a commercial unit in Dublin.
The Brendal brand cigarettes, which were manufactured in Ukraine, arrived in Dublin Port last week from Poland.
It is believed that they were wrapped in black sacks containing spice, which meant they were not detected by tobacco dogs at the port.
Revenue said the cigarettes represented a potential loss to the Exchequer of €341,000.
