Over €50,000 in cash was seized at Dublin Airport by officers from Revenue’s Customs Service.

During routine checks, officers seized €7,760 from a 28-year-old Irishman as he attempted to board a flight to Amsterdam.

More than €3,000 was found on his person and a further €4,000 was found concealed in his carry-on baggage.

Three further seizures of €15,000 each were made from three Irishmen who were about to board a later flight to Amsterdam.

The Revenue’s Customs Service has been granted three-month detention orders in respect of the cash by Judge Patricia McNamara at the Criminal Court of Justice.
