Larry Hagman, who created one of television's most supreme villains as J R Ewing in the hit series Dallas has died.
Mr Hagman, 81, died at a Dallas hospital of complications from his battle with throat cancer.
The TV series Dallas made its premiere in 1978 and made Hagman a superstar.
The show quickly became a top-rated programme and built a huge international following.
The show was revived earlier this year.
Mr Hagman featured in one of the most memorable episodes in television history, Who Shot J R, in which his character was shot by an unseen assailant.
