A viable pipe bomb has been found in the garden of a house in Belfast this afternoon, according to police in Northern Ireland.

Families in the Northwick Drive area were evacuated while army bomb disposal teams made the device safe.

The PSNI said the security alert has ended and the device has been taken away for further examination.
