A fundraising meeting is being held tonight in Co Waterford for two young brothers who have a rare genetic disorder.

Six-year-old Ryan McCormack from Tramore and his four-year-old brother Ethan have been diagnosed with ALD, a serious, progressive and neurological disorder.

Ryan was diagnosed six months ago; Ethan only last week.

Ryan is going to the United States tomorrow to begin two months of intense chemotherapy and both boys will also require bone marrow transplants.

Ryan's twin brother Jack does not have the disorder, which was the subject of the well-known movie, 'Lorenzo's Oil'.

ALD is one of a group of inherited disorders, which in many cases are fatal.

The odds on two brothers having the disorder are considered one in two million.
