Police said the pensioner died due to stress

A woman has been charged with the manslaughter of a pensioner in Northern Ireland earlier this year.

Bertie Acheson, 72, died after he confronted a burglar at his home in Coleraine in Co Derry in April.

Police said the suspect, aged 23, was detained in the Antrim area.

She will appear at Ballymena Magistrates' Court tomorrow morning.

It is the second arrest by police in connection with the inquiry.

A man, also from the Antrim area, has previously been interviewed, but was released without charge.

Mr Acheson suffered a heart attack during the confrontation.

Detectives believe it was brought on by stress.

Crimestoppers, an independent group, has offered a £10,000 reward for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the offenders.
