A 24-year-old man has been charged in connection with the killing of 30-year-old Aoife Phelan.
Ms Phelan's body was found during a garda dig at the back of a house near Portlaoise yesterday.
Ms Phelan, who was four months pregnant, went missing in Portlaoise a fortnight ago.
The 24-year-old man, who was re-arrested by gardaí yesterday, is due to appear in court tomorrow morning.
The family of Ms Phelan formally identified her body after the completion of a post-mortem examination.
The results of the post mortem have not been made public for what gardaí have described as operational reasons.
Floral tributes to Ms Phelan have been placed on the Timahoe Road across from the site where her body was recovered from the ground.
The Phelan family have gathered at their home in Ballyroan where they are being comforted by neighbours and friends.
