Two Cork men have been convicted for their part in the rape and sexual assault of a woman three years ago.

The men were aged 16 and 18 at the time of the attack in which a woman was picked up in a van and sexually assaulted after she got drunk and became separated from friends on a night out.

One of the men was convicted of oral rape and both were convicted of sexual assault and attempted rape.

A third man was acquitted on all charges.

There were chaotic scenes in the Central Criminal Court when the verdicts were announced.

Two members of the convicted men’s families were detained in custody overnight.

The convicted men will be sentenced in January.
