Dozens of people blocked roads and entrances to factories formerly owned by Seán Quinn for a time today, in protest at the jailing of the former billionaire.

Agricultural machinery was used to prevent access to the factories in Derrylin, Co Fermanagh, and Ballyconnell, Co Cavan.

Those taking part in the protest were members of the Quinn family, supporters and a number of former Quinn employees.

Last Friday, Quinn Snr was sentenced to nine weeks in prison for contempt of court.

Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne said she could not ignore the extent and degree of contempt of court by Quinn.
