Search teams involved in the search for missing Co Offaly woman Catherine Gowing have sealed off a second area where further human remains were found.

North Wales Police said an off-duty police officer discovered the remains on the banks of the River Dee in Ferry Lane, Higher Ferry in Chester.

Search teams, which had been deployed nearby, were alerted and the scene was sealed off.

A full post mortem and forensic examination of the remains will be carried out.

Elsewhere, police have begun a search of a house in Sealand, close to where human remains were found yesterday.

The remains were found in a shallow pool about two miles from where the 37-year-old vet’s car was found burnt out.

Ms Gowing, who is originally from Clonlee near Birr, was last seen on Friday 12 October leaving an Asda Supermarket in Queensferry.

Clive Sharp, 46, has been charged with her murder.
