A motorcyclist has died in a road traffic collision near Glanmire in Co Cork.

The crash happened at about 1.30pm, when the motorcyclist was involved in a collision with at least two other vehicles.

The man, who was in his late 40s, was removed to Mercy University Hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.

He was from Cork city.

The road where the collision occurred at Upper Glanmire is closed pending a forensic examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the crash to contact them at Glanmire or Cobh garda stations.
