A 32-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of intimidation against a Catholic family in Co Down.

A mother and her three children escaped injury last night after their home was set alight in what is believed to have been the latest attack.

Flammable liquid was poured through the letter box of their home in Lenamore Park in Newtownards and set alight.

Police and a neighbour helped rescue the family, who were asleep at the time, from the fire.

It is the third time in two weeks that the family has been targeted in what is a mainly loyalist area.

The PSNI described this latest attack as particularly "reckless" and "cowardly".

Locals said that those behind this kind of sectarian behaviour are not representative of the community.
