Police in Derry city were called to a sports clothing outlet after large crowds flocked to the shop's closing-down sale.

Yesterday, JJB Sports announced it was shutting ten of its stores across Northern Ireland after going into administration.

Officers assisted with a group of around 300 shoppers at the JJB store on the Strand Road.

A 29-year-old man was cautioned for disorderly behaviour.

A reporter with the Derry Journal, Laurence McClenaghan, described scenes at the shop this morning as "bedlam".

He said long queues of bargain hunters had already formed before the store opened its doors at 8am.

He said the situation has since calmed.
