Flights have resumed at Dublin Airport following an emergency landing earlier this evening.

An American Airlines jet, enroute from London to Boston, diverted to Dublin after reporting a technical problem off the Irish coast.

The Boeing 757 jet landed safely at around 10.15pm but blocked the runway forcing the authorities to close the airport.

Some flights were diverted to Belfast, Shannon and Manchester before the runway was reopened just before 11pm.
