A convicted sex offender has appeared in court charged with failing to register with the gardaí as required by law.

Edward Connors, 19,  from Labre Park, Ballyfermot, Dublin 10 was remanded in custody to appear again in court next week.

He is accused of failing to notify the gardaí of his name, address and date-of-birth between 14 and 21 July as required under the Sex Offenders Act.

Garda Dave Connelly gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.

He told the court that Edward Connors was arrested at 10pm last night at Labre Park, Ballyfermot, and made no reply when charged.

Edward Connors was granted Free Legal Aid.

The court heard he had no income and was not working.

It also heard that gardaí would be objecting to bail, but defence counsel said they would be making an application for bail at the next hearing.

The man was remanded in custody to appear again at Clover Hill District Court next Wednesday.
