Kathleen Lynch said an expert group is likely to recommend legislation

Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore has said the Government will wait to see the report from an expert group examining the implications of a European Court of Human Rights ruling on Irish abortion laws before acting on the issue.

Earlier, Minister of State at the Department of Health Kathleen Lynch told RTÉ radio that she believes the Government will have no choice but to recommend legislation on the issue.

She said she expected that the expert group examining how to accommodate the X Case will recommend legislation, and that the Government would have to discuss those proposals.
