Three men charged with possession of firearm

Three men have been before Dublin District Court charged with possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances.

Paul Walsh, 25, and Alex Irwin, 22, both from Tallaght, and Wayne Ellis, 30, from Ballyfermot, were charged with possession of a sawn-off shotgun at Knocklyon Shopping Centre on 5 July.

Detectives from the Garda Organised Crime Unit gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution of all three men.

None of the men made any reply when charged.

Applications for bail were made for all three men and gardaí objected in the three cases.

Judge Michael Coughlan remanded Mr Irwin and Mr Ellis in custody with consent to bail.

They were given bail on condition they provide personal bonds and independent sureties, observe a 10pm-8am curfew, reside at home and sign-on daily at Rathfarnham and Tallaght garda stations.

Judge Coughlan refused bail for Mr Walsh. All three will be brought before Cloverhill District Court next week.
