A 47-year-old man has been charged in connection with criminal damage to a Monet painting in the National Gallery of Ireland.
He is due before the Dublin District Court on Monday morning.
The 'Argenteuil Basin with a Single Sailboat' was damaged during an incident on Friday between 11.30am and noon in Room 10 in the lower base wing of the Gallery.
The painting has been removed for assessment.
Gardaí are appealing for visitors to the museum who may have witnessed the incident to contact them on 01 6669000.
