Additional resources have been put in place to deal with a large number of calls to the fire service in parts of Northern Ireland tonight, because of heavy rain and flooding.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service says it has received numerous calls for help in dealing with flood water.

The PSNI is warning of widespread flooding and traffic disruption in south and east Belfast.

It urged motorists to exercise extreme caution when driving and to only travel if necessary.

Emergency services are appealing to the public not to contact the 999 service unless there is a risk to life and to instead call the emergency Flood Line number, 0300-2000-100.
