Two women have died in separate road crashes in counties Tipperary and Louth.

A woman cyclist in her 70s died after a collision with a bus at Kickham Street in Thurles at around 9.50am.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the collision.

Elsewhere, a 23-year-old woman has died following a two-car collision in Co Louth.

The incident occurred at 9.50am yesterday morning at Glenmore, Riverstown, Dundalk.

The woman, who was the driver of one of the cars, was airlifted to Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry, where she later died.

A passenger in her car and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

Their injuries have been described as minor.
