A judge has imposed a fine and costs of more than €370,000 on a pharmaceutical company.

Corden PharmaChem in Little Island, Co Cork, was the subject of one of the worst chemical explosions ever investigated by the Health & Safety Authority.

Cork Circuit Criminal Court heard that the safety system for the fatal accident at the company relied on people never making an error.

The company said afterwards it accepted the court's judgment.
