Cardinal Marc Ouellet will represent Pope Benedict at the 50th International Eucharistic Congress in Dublin in June.

The Canadian is a senior Vatican official who heads the Congregation for Bishops, which deals with the appointment of bishops around the world.

He was Archbishop of Quebec City, which hosted the last International Congress in June 2008, up to his Congregation appointment in 2010.

Cardinal Ouellet's principal public role at the IEC will include presiding at the opening mass on 10 June at the RDS and at the concluding mass in Croke Park on 17 June.
