Kells Stainless, an Irish stainless steel fabrication company, has announced an alliance with Umde, one of Turkey's leading stainless steel fabricators.
The announcement was made as part of this week's Enterprise Ireland trade mission of 25 Irish companies to Turkey which is aimed at increasing trade between Ireland and Turkey.
The contract will enable Kells Stainless to increase its business in Turkey, with a €2m sales target by the end of 2013.
Junior Minister Joe Costello TD welcomed the announcement saying "I strongly congratulate Kells and UMDE on this important strategic alliance and wish them every success in their partnership. This announcement is a great example of how an innovative Irish company can partner with a local business to access the significant market opportunity that Turkey presents"
John McKeon, CEO Kells Stainless of Ireland noted that the aim is to jointly target the €10 billion Turkish pharma industry, saying "Umde is one of Turkey's leading Stainless Steel prefabricators with capability and scale to handle R&D, process design and turn key projects for the major food and beverage manufacturers in the region."
