Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping has said he was deeply impressed by his recent visit to Ireland.

Mr Xi was speaking as he welcomed Taoiseach Enda Kenny to a formal dinner at the state guesthouse in Beijing.

Mr Xi said he had many pleasant memories of the warm welcome he received in Ireland last month and hoped Mr Kenny would enjoy his visit.

The Taoiseach is on the second of his four-day trade mission to China.

Earlier, Mr Kenny attended a business breakfast in Shanghai.

The trade mission is aimed at boosting Irish exports and encouraging Chinese investment in Ireland.
