Microsoft was named as the best large company to work for in Ireland for the fourth year in a row at the tenth annual Great Place to Work Best Workplace Awards last night.
EMC Ireland's managing director Bob Savage was also named Ireland's most trusted leader. Previous winners include Diageo's John Kennedy and O2's Danuta Grey.
The Great Place to Work awards highlights organisations that create and maintain an environment of trust in the workplace.
Google Ireland, PepsiCo, EMC Information Systems and McDonalds Restaurants of Ireland made up the top five large companies in which to work in their country.
Estate agents Jones Lang LaSalle wont the best medium sized company award and construction firm HILTI won the first ever best small workplace award.
Presenting the awards, the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton said that a key part of our enterprise and jobs recovery will be ensuring that our businesses become exemplars of best practice in everything they do, including the way they treat their staff.
Of the 45 companies who achieved the best workplace standard in 2012, 12 were Irish firms. They include Bord Gáis, Version 1, Topaz, Ergo, Barry Group, Cluid Housing, Adrian Dunne Pharmacies, Tourism Ireland, Merlin, FCm, Vayu and Core Media.
