Newspaper circulation figures for the second half of last year suggest a decline in sales for almost all of the main daily and Sunday newspapers compared with the same period in 2010.

The Audit Bureau of Circulation figures indicate that in the daily market, the Irish Independent still led the way with an average circulation of 131,161 a day, but this was down 5.3% on the same period a year earlier.

The Irish Times fell by 6.2% to 96,150 and the Irish Examiner dropped 8.5% to 42,083.
