Earthquake hits northern CaliforniaTuesday 14 February 2012 10.26
A magnitude 5.3 earthquake has struck northern California, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The earthquake, initially reported by the USGS as a magnitude 5.7, was centred 10km west of Weitchpec in a remote area south of Oregon.
It was quite shallow, at a depth of only 33km. There were no reports of damage.
