Almost 500 jobs are to be created in a series of job projects that have been announced today.
The positions are being created in Galway, Leixlip, Sligo and Cork with the support of the IDA.
The biggest of these projects is at technology group Hewlett Packard.
It is hiring a total of 280 staff at its operations in Galway and Leixlip, Co Kildare, with 150 jobs created in research and development.
The company is creating a further 130 new technical and support roles.
It is seeking experienced computer science graduates and project managers immediately. The value of the investment is €45m.
Pharmaceutical group Abbott is to invest €85m and create 175 positions in Sligo.
The new jobs will be in engineering, quality and pharmaceutical science.
Some of the jobs will come on stream as the company expands its facility. The rest will be added in 2014.
Big Fish Games is adding 30 jobs in Cork.
