A sit-in protest by staff at Galway Airport is into its second night.

A group of 14 staff members have said they will continue the action until they receive redundancies.

The board of Galway Airport met officials from Bank of Ireland in an attempt to salvage a rescue package for the Galway facility.

The airport board also met officials from the Department of Transport in Dublin to discuss the latest developments regarding the airport and its funds.

Staff at the Carnmore facility fear that the airport is facing being put into liquidation, unless agreement can be reached on its future.

A Galway Airport board meeting will be held tomorrow to discuss the outcome of today's talks in Dublin.
