All of the country's second-level schools will be equipped with high-speed broadband by the end of 2014.
The Department of Communications and Department of Education have said that 200 schools will be connected by September.
A further 200 schools will be connected in 2013.
The remaining 250 schools will be connected in 2014.
This follows a pilot project that has been running since 2009, when 78 second-level schools were connected to high-speed broadband.
