Bank of Ireland has announced the appointment of two non-executive directors.

Bank of Ireland has announced the appointment of two non-executive directors, Patrick Haren and Kent Atkinson, to its board.

Mr Atkinson was group finance director of Lloyds TSB Group in the UK for eight years between 1994 and 2002. Before that, he held a number of senior positions in retail banking with Lloyds.

He is also the senior independent director of UK Asset Resolution, the body which manages the financial institutions owned by the British government - (Bradford & Bingley and Northern Rock (Asset Management).

Mr Haren is a former CEO of the Viridian Group, having joined Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) in 1992 as chief executive. He led the privatisation of NIE by flotation in 1993. Mr Haren previously worked with the ESB and served as a board member of Invest Northern Ireland for a number of years.

Mr Atkinson will be joining the BoI's audit and risk committees. Mr Haren will be on the bank's audit and remuneration committees.
