A 29-year-old man arrested in relation to the suspicious death of an elderly man in Kimmage in Dublin yesterday has had his detention extended for a further 12 hours.

The man was arrested in the early hours of this morning in Dublin City Centre in connection with the death of pensioner Edward Boylan.

The post mortem carried out on the 74-year-old's body shows he died from stab wounds inflicted using a sword.
