Science research body confident for year ahead

Science Foundation Ireland is confident that resourcing for 2012 will enable it to continue support 3,000 researchers and 28 large research centres.

The State body that funds scientific research has said it is confident that resourcing for next year will enable it to continue support 3,000 researchers and 28 large research centres.

Science Foundation Ireland said it hopes to reconfigure how it invests in 2012 to favour projects that can interact with the market place.

It said scientific research was at the centre of Ireland's recovery plans.
