A 25-year-old woman has admitted killing a father of four by crushing him with her car almost four years ago.

Claire Nolan of Sheephill Green in Blanchardstown, Dublin today pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter at the Central Criminal Court.

She admitted driving her Nissan Micra into Michael Duffy on 26 January 2008.

Mr Duffy, who was in his son's driveway at Wellview Grove in Blanchardstown at the time, had his spine broken in the incident and died of crush injuries to his chest.

Mr Justice Paul Carney was told the plea was acceptable to the Director of Public Prosecutions and he remanded Ms Nolan on bail, pending preparation of probation and victim impact reports.

Sentencing is due on 5 March 2012.
