Burdale is headquartered in the UK and also has a presence in the US. It provides comprehensive asset based lending and it reported pre-tax profits of £20.7m sterling for 2010.

Bank of Ireland says the proceeds of the sale will be used to reduce its wholesale borrowings in line with the bank's deleveraging plan. It added that the deal will not affect its core Tier 1 ratio.
