Twitter has released its most tweeted topics and hashtags for the past year.

Twitter has released its most tweeted topics and hashtags for 2011.

The lists, published in Twitter's Year in Review on its official blog, show the keywords that ''rose the fastest in the conversation''.

The unrest in the Middle East led to #egypt topping the list of most popular hashtags, followed by #tigerblood - a quote from actor Charlie Sheen.

Hosni Mubarak's resignation, the raid on Osama bin Laden and the Japanese earthquake topped the list of most popular topics on Twitter's World News list.
