A Credit Union survey shows it can take some people up to seven months to recover from overspending at Christmas.

The festive season will push 38% of people into debt and the League of Credit Unions is warning people not to be tempted into using moneylenders.

Shoppers are also being warned that credit card debt can attract a high interest rate if the balance is not cleared on time every month.
