A United Airlines flight en route from Heathrow to Indianapolis had to divert and land at Shannon today due to 'technical' issues.

A United Airlines flight en route from Heathrow to Indianapolis had to divert and land at Shannon due to 'technical' issues.

Some fuel was dumped into the Atlantic as is standard procedure with this sort of incident.

The plane landed in Shannon at approximately 2.30pm and there were 250 people on board the flight.

A decision was due to be made on whether the aircraft could continue its journey today.
