A 49-year-old man has died following a shooting at a halting site in Dublin.

He was taken to the Mater Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The incident happened at St Margaret's Halting site in Ballymun at around 9.50pm last night.

The married man was alone in his mobile home when two gunmen drove up and shot him several times.

A dark coloured Nissan Qashqai used in the attack was found burned out in Mayeston, St Margaret's Road, Finglas.
