The fishing village of Ballycotton in east Cork was hit by two whirlwinds this afternoon.

Footage shows the dust devils (minor tornadoes) making their way through a field, across a road and into nearby fields tossing hay into the air.

The footage was captured by local resident Conor Wall on his mobile phone.

Met Éireann could not confirm if they were definitely dust devils, but it said that the winds are cyclonic in the area at the moment.

The weather centre said that dust devils can happen in a localised way if there is a low in the area.
