A school that provides specialised education to eight children with autism will close tomorrow because parents can no longer afford to fund it.
Parents at Achieve ABA in Donaghmede in Dublin have criticised a decision by the Department of Education not to fund the school.
Some parents also say they are experiencing great difficulty finding alternative school places for their children.
The school uses the Applied Behavioural Analysis method of teaching children with autism. This is an intensive one-on-one system.
Parents had put forward proposals for State funding of the school and argued that their model was 25% cheaper than educating children in existing special schools.
However, the Department of Education has rejected their request for funding.
The Department says its policy is that children with autism should be included where possible in mainstream schools.
