The Govt is to make an announcement on the new National Children's Hospital tomorrow.
The Cabinet discussed a recommendation that the site near the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in Dublin be the location for the new hospital.
Campaigners said after five years and €29m to get to this point they were relieved.
However, the New Children's Hospital Alliance, which has always maintained the Mater is the wrong site, insisted the review was flawed because it excluded other sites from being examined.
The aim is to have the new 445-bed facility built on the Mater site by 2015.
