IT company Nostra Systems has bought the business of Rocklan Technologies. Both Irish-owned companies specialise in providing cloud computing and technology services to small business customers. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
Rocklan Technologies' staff and customer base will transfer to Nostra. The deal will give Nostra a current workforce of 22 people and the company says it is budgeting for a total of 35 staff by summer 2012.
Nostra Systems is based in Sandyford, Co Dublin and was set up in 2007 by its managing director Kevin O'Loughlin. He and other investors have so far put €1.2m into the company.
Mr O'Loughlin said this would be the first in a series of anticipated takeovers. 'We are actively seeking other small IT businesses who want to move forward as part of a larger entity,' he said.
