The Garda Commissioner has said that the gardaí will pursue any criminal offences disclosed in the Moriarty Tribunal Report.

Commissioner Martin Callinan reiterated that officers from the Criminal Assets Bureau are now examining the report and it was the Garda's objective to pursue any forms of criminality.

He said at present the examination was focused on identifying offences, the perimeters of any criminal investigation would be narrowed.

The Commissioner stressed this was a significant matter and one that gardaí were not prepared to rush but he said the Criminal Assets Bureau's examination of the issues raised in the report would be completed sooner rather than later.

He also said the question of resources was not an issue.

The Commissioner said all resources necessary for investigation would if needed be made available.
